The week that was...

Last Wednesday and Thursday I attended a work shop in Geraldton with Helen Stubbings  from HugsnKisses .. We spend two lovely relaxing days ,

Amazing views and we kept watch for any passing whales ,but no luck....

The first day Helen showed us how to work with colour pencils ,

Maybe one day mine MAY get finished and look a little like this....

Day two was a sit and stitch day, oh! also chatting and eating..

Was sew nice to met Helen  and learn some new techniques.......

Hubby had been away on a bush camping trip and on his return I washed his favorite dusty old quilt which I thought should be binned BUT he insisted I could mend it for him......

Took some time sorting through my stash and pinning on all the patches. Needed some big ones to cover the holes but when I finished sewing them on Hubby was pleased..

I've also made a few "Doggy Blocks" to send to Karen from KaHolly who is collecting them to help folk from Hurricane Harvey

You can read about it at Karen's Blog HERE.. I will be making a few more...

Also made my 6 blocks for Fat Quarter Shop  Quilt-Along..

but as I sewed till 1am to finish them I realised when I took the photo only two were sewn together correctly... Guess I need to do some ripping...         GRRRRRRR!!!!!!

Fun Weekend....

I had a fun weekend sewing.. Starting with  FNSI with Wendy  and you can see what I did in my previous post but then spending a whole weekend at our "Stay at Home Retreat"...

We are sew lucky to be able to hire the Seniors hall for our workshops etc which gives us lots of space and all the facilities we need..

After setting up, making a cuppa and chatting I got to work on this...

It took most of the weekend but I'm pleased to say after several hiccups the flimsy is finished....

Measures  64" X 80"   a very pretty community quilt. It's amazing how a pattern looks out two different fabrics..   You can see the other one I make  HERE..

Some of the ladies busy working  .....

Look at this intricate work......

oh ! lots of  paper piecing .......

beautiful hand embroidery

sorry thought I took more photos but I was just keep sew busy .  Happy to say that I did manage to work on this project before going home...

Thanks to everybody for a fabulous weekend.....

Must away now and do some unpacking and organising in the Cave .  Going to a Two Day workshop in Geraldton on  Wed /Thurs  with Helen Stubbings.... Now exciting.......

The Ugly......PPPP

In March we attended Lynette Anderson Workshop and were asked if we'd like to make a Pincushion to swap with other ladies...

I spent hours sewing the Hexies and the idea was to have a beautiful big hexagon pincushion with the stitchery we were sent....

Even though I stuffed and re stuffed my pincushion several times I couldn't get it to look right...

I hurriedly made a simple square one for the swap.
Here are all the beautiful ones others made and you can see the one my DD made which I was lucky to receive in the swap....

thank you Ida and Sis for organising the Perfectly Pleasing Pincushion Parade  for the third year...

PPPP

I have joined Ida and her Sis again this year for  "The Perfectly Pleasing Pincushion Parade" ..

This year I only added three new ones.

First is one my DD made,

I love it and it's the perfect size to pop in my basket when I go to Patch instead of my dear Old Turtle..

Next is a cute little one my friend has given to me...

I thought it looked great next to GGD's Lego..

Many many years ago I painted this little clog and thought it would make a sweet pincushion for this years parade....

If you would like to see my other pincushions from last year you can view them HERE

Thank you Ladies for organising the PPPP again this year... It's always fun !!!

I am going to pop over to your Blog to see all the lovely PPPP others have entered...

Happy stitching

for hours and hours ...Just keep shifting the blocks, can't seam to find a lay out I like.

I decided to have some fun and sew something else...
and look what happened. Grrrrrr!!

Upside down....

Then it was nearly 1am sew went to bed...

I'll  Play with THOSE blocks again tonight when I join the ladies on the other side .
